DEEP INSIDE A PART OF ME
I was looking for my inspiration to write a song again,
But there was no way to receive it during all the day.
So, yesterday evening beside my loneliness

I started reading the long letters once you used to send me.
And maybe those words started boiling while I was sleeping in bed.
So, wake up this morning feeling like something warning:
I'm here to try and write again.

What's the reason? What's the feeling comin' out from me?
Maybe something? Maybe someone? Ain't it hard to see?
I'm sure you're still living deep inside a part of me.

I just locked the door 'cause I didn't want to let somebody in.
But those postcards had the power to make me feel in a dream.
But we no more share our love and still there is something above
That drives me crazy once again.

Now you're living all your lifetimes faraway from me.
Maybe something? Maybe someone that's not hard to see?
I'm sure you will always live deep inside a part of me.

SONG FOR A KITE
After so much road walked together overcoming doubts on the way
Now I’m coming to realise that you've only to call my name.

So, we could fly over our own fears, but I should never have believed
That you're feeling what I can deeply feel, but

You can't find the right way and maybe you won't lose the world that we built up too.

You wanted your freedom, well, I learned how to do.
I bound you only with my twine (made by) my friendship for you.

Tell me, how many times did you stop among the branches of trees?
And how many times did you really feel free? But I think it's harder now.
You asked me to climb and guide you, but I can't hide my fear
If I fell down what could your eyes say?

And where could this world go? The world that we built up together without support?

You wanted your freedom, well, I learned how to do.
Now I hope that the wind can help you (to) fly again.

NOWADAYS AND YESTERDAYS
Woke up in the morning always thinkin' of you;
Open my eyes, wash my face and remember you.
You're living in my heart, you, I still love you.

I'm goin' out, meeting my girl, but I feel I don't need her,
Because in my mind the only thought is you, all the rest I hate;
My mind is clearer now, I feel I'll stop wasting time.

My life is gonna change, I'm comin' out from my state,
I left my world and now I'm living with you.
I see you in everything, you, my world is you.

All my life is always nice and I'm glad I have a wife,
Because with you I'm feeling good, now we need a child.
Our life must be complete, I feel our home like the fire.

HOT SUMMER NIGHT
Well, I’m coming back home, drive my car in a traffic jam,
35 in July don’t help me lessen a thrill in my mind
Long to take off my clothes, have a shower put a gown on
And relax on the couch, waiting to spend a hot summer night.

Stored the seafood in the fridge, pasta, pepper and salt,
I’ll place the pot on the fire, add some water inside awaiting to boil.
Keep an eye on the shrimps getting brown in the frying pan,
In a dress of sàffron, sèsame, thyme and good olive oil (e.v.o).

Then it’s dinner with you, I will pair chilly white wine,
Pop a bottle of the finest champagne, gently whisp’ring your name
Lightly touching your lips with the tip of my lips for a passionate caffè.

Turn the keys in the door, there’s no light in the lonely hall
Power cut in the block, oh, the seafood went bad and I’m fainting on the floor.
Got a text from you now, “I will take a delayed flight””
What a likable play changing the meaning of a hot summer night.

There’s no dinner with you, any drop of chilly white wine,
Why not a sip of champagne, wondering who damn is to blame?
Swearing I’ll buy no more fish, wine or champagne but only caffè.
Swearing I’ll buy no more fish, wine or champagne but only caffè.

MRS. EVERYTHING
All alone, my guitar and my fancy, I'm travelling back through those days.
And I'm feeling so strange all the times that I say:
"-They won't pass me by once again".

Now I can really say while I'm singing that she was for me quite everything.
In her smile I could find what I need to have: nothing to get everything.

Well, I miss her all the time and the world anymore won't be mine,
So, I can't see the way to forget in my life something that I can't put in this rhyme.

I will live without reason my life, but this one-way love won't wound my pride,
I will never forsake what I've built 'till today nothing will break it, no wind or rain.

There's a thing that I will always do, someone can really say I'm a fool,
I'll be thinking of her, anytime, anywhere even if I was sure she don't care.

This is such a beautiful way to send her my love every day,
So, I'm singin' this song, how I wish she could hear
That I want only her to be near.

DIE AND LET LIVE

Naked, dirty, hundreds, thousands, landless, senseless, godless, frightened.
Mother, death, light, black, my son, heat, punched, sweat.
Can't breath, can't move, busses, flashes,
Dim light, dusk, candle light, no light.
Gas, water, burned, hope.

I touch my leg, I touch your leg. I hardly breath, I'm getting wet.

Tears mixed with water and runs throughout our bodies.
Ashes in my mind ready to be burned. You can burn our bodies, not our memories.

Water, voices, screams, joy, toys, boys, guys, gays,
Guns, runs, blood, flood, mad, sad, lost men
Evil, devil, rebel, brother, hungry, thirsty, beast-like shot
Heart-beat, slow, one, none.

THE END OF A DREAM

I have nothing more to say whenever my days go away
I've tried anything to break this way.
And why did you make me feel as if I were the last wheel
Dreaming to play my part so unreal.

I was so strong, and now I wonder to where I belong
How many days, I say, have I to stay into the box of unuseful weight.

Oh, God, you're no more my friend, you're driving me straight to the end
And you're laughin' about this silly man.

I was so strong, and now I wonder to where I belong
How many days, I say, you want me to place into the box of unuseful weight.

LISTEN (some things put together fall apart)
Listen to me now, I'm trying hard to reach you,
Listen to the beating of my heart..
So much we've known and so much lost in knowing,
We thought we'd live forever and a day..

The stars shine down on the embers of a lifetime,
God knows I loved you from the start,
And the wind blows cold all along the winter highway
For some things put together tend to fall apart...

Listen, the world is turning, the love light is shining on for sure,
Maybe we were born just to be here for the moment,
I never thought I'd think of it this way,...

Listen, listen, wish the world would listen,
If I could stop the sand from falling down
And spooling back down through half a lifetime
I'd turn the glass and, lady, hold you one more time..

Nobody knows the blueprint for tomorrow.
We're all just prisoners of our time,
And if I could see your face and hold you for a moment,
Then that's the reason for the rhyme.
Listen, the world is turning, the love light is shining on for sure,
Maybe we were born just to be here for a moment, I never thought of it this way,...

Listen, oh listen, I wish the world would listen,
If I could stop the sand from falling down
And spooling back down through half a lifetime...
I'd turn the glass and, lady, hold you one more time..

Nobody knows the blueprint for tomorrow.
We're all just prisoners of our time,
If I could see your face and hold you for a moment,
That's the reason for the rhyme....
Oh, listen, the world is turning, the love light is shining on for sure,
Maybe we were born just to be here for the moment,
I never thought I'd think of it this way,...

Listen, listen…I never thought I'd think of it this way,…

SUPER BLUES
Woke up this morning, not feeling so good
Got inspiration to write about my blues
Went to the store, seized some food
Something for dinner, did not have a clue.
Roll up, roll down filling the cart going around
And I stopped ‘cause I forgot to take my wallet at home.

Got no money, what should I do?
Just a new reason to write another blues.
Maybe some friend is going to appear
“Can you lend me some bucks to buy just a beer?”.
Looking far, looking near, no familiar face here.
I think I got to change the plans and smile at the cashier.

Eight in the evening, just got back home
Better diet to bother the neuron(e)
Sit on the couch, grab the guitar
Start to play, just wishing on the stars
Dreaming of cheese, bacon and eggs, draught beer from a keg
But all I got is just a guitar on my leg (to feed my soul).

LOOKING FOR YOU
I've been looking all around through the sunshine and the rain,
In the evening of my days, in the morning of my brain,
I was wandering everywhere in the mountains and the hills,
But I’ve always passed through windmills.

When the oceans overflowed I stood there to call your name,
I swam in the tide, I walked in the rain and
When I woke up on the sand I was holding in my hands
What I could have been catching of you.

Watching the moonshine up there in the sky
I wish I could easily fly
High in the blue I will borrow the wind
To reach up my hands to you.

Well, my wings broke down and I landed on the ground
I can't tell you where I was, but I was hearing a voice around;
And I was roaming everywhere in the mountains and the hills,
But I’ve always passed through windmills.

Watching the moonshine up there in the sky
I wish I could easily fly
High in the blue I will borrow the wind
To reach up my hands to you.

SCARECROW

Soldier in a field of green, worn out suit of yesterday
Faithful have I always been standing in the wind and rain
But if only I’d a song to sing I’d sing it every day.

Standalone beneath the sky, in summer heat and winter snow
My eyes are blind, my voice is dumb, the wind has blown my hat away.
But if only I’d a song to sing I’d sing it every day.

Changing seasons all around me each one with a tale of his own to tell.

I’m all alone here in a field unseen, reaching for the stars above
Silence fills my head of straw, the moon shines on a world of love
Oh, if only I’d a song to sing I’d sing it every day.

When and why

01-DEEP INSIDE A PART OF ME (1980)
This is an old song I wrote when, by chance, I ran into some letters my lover wrote and this made me reanalyse the time we spent together. A part of our love will always remain inside me.

02-SONG FOR A KITE (1979)
This is a song I wrote for a dear friend of mine, after he wrote some lyrics in italian and a draft translation in english. I wriote the music and I tried to adapt his words. So Kite was born. The message with it is that when you feel you need to steer a love it is probably the wrong one.

03-NOWADAYS AND YESTERDAYS (1975)
I wrote this song when I was in the high school. I was used to listening to Mark-Almond a lot and I loved so much their atmosphere. I proudly remember that a class mate loved this song and she always asked me to play it. I think that reading the words today makes me realize that my real life is so close to what the song wanted to express…

04-HOT SUMMER NIGHT (2017)
I wrote a song in 1976 called Mexican dream; it was a poor attempt to write a tex-mex song following examples by James Tayolr and J.D. Souther. But I liked it. It was about a dream I had of Mexico (never been there). A couple of years ago I listened to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and I fell in love with this song. Then I decided to exume Mexican dream, change its suite and transorm the lyrics: so HSN was born, with ironic lyrics joking with a double meaning.

05-MRS EVERYTHING (1976)
The High School years are unforgettable memories to me. Those were the years when I deeply fell in love with mathematics and I decided to keep on studying it in the University. Those were also educational times and the music I was writing started to have a shape, as the fruit of so much listening and dedication for the instrument, that would not abandon me anymore.

06-DIE AND LET LIVE (1994)
I watched Schindler's List at the cinema and I was literally struck. Spielberg used a 35mm camera and the scenes were so real that I felt I was part of them. In particular, I remember the scene of the gas chamber and, when I came back home, I wrote this song trying to figure out what a human being in the chamber could think in that very moment. years after, I went to Mauthausen and, as I enter the entry gate, I felt a deep anguish and I started to cry.

07-LIAM G. (2018)
Liam is my second son's name, born in 2017. They say a child changes one's life: 2 children at my age made me understand how life can reserve wonderful surprises, often unthinkable. At the end of the song he's saying "Babbo" for the first time.

08-THE END OF A DREAM (1979)
I loved enigmistic amd mathematical games; so, I sent the request to participate in a TV show named Paroliamo e Contiamo, broadcasted by Tele Montecarlo. I lost for one only point due to a mistake of mine, otherwise I would be the Champion. I remember Boris Becker saying "There is only one thing I hate more than losing: losing badly". When I came back home from Milan, on the train, I wrote this song.

09-LISTEN (2017)
A dream come true: to write a song with Mr Chris Simpson (Magna Carta). He wrote the lyrics and I wrote the music. I would have never imagined to be able to do that when a was a teen ager, listening to those beautiful albums like In Concert, Seasons, Songs from wasties orchard, Lord of the Ages,… Never surrender.

10-SUPER BLUES (2018)
This is the second part of I don't know how to play the blues. I tried to write ironic lyrics, dedicated to the Super Market, following the chords of a blues.

11-LOOKING FOR YOU (1979)
This is a song whose message I understood with the passing of time. It is dedicated to the search of a meaning for our life and, moreover, to the need of believing that there is a life beyond our life.

12-SCARECROW (1970)
This is a tribute to one of my favourite band ever: Magna Carta. I dedicate this song to my dear friend Chris Simpson. Always loved to play this song and when I sing it it really seems to me to be there, beneath the sky reaching for the stars above. Thank you Chris for what you did to my music.
